It’s important for the Tejas friendships we formed while in school, the Tejas friendships that flourished for the larger period later and especially for the Tejas friendships to come for others behind us. 100 years ago Friendship was the centerpiece of a vision by young men who made it the cornerstone of Tejas:

“We’ll establish a club on this campus composed of men whom we believe to be honorable and with whom we would like to associate as friends while in school and after we leave campus.”

We know the fires of friendship do forever burn, and burn not just in an active, ongoing flame but also in a way that leaves a permanent mark. We’ve experienced the fire of Tejas friendship. We know its meaning, its depth, its warmth. Like those who came before us, let’s keep the flame burning for the others still to come.
